We draw inspiration from the richness of African culture and reimagine it through a modern lens, creating pieces that feel familiar yet fresh, timeless yet full of personality.
At the heart of TribeKanna are four things: Afrocentrism, modernity, timelessness and craftsmanship. We believe our heritage doesn’t belong in the past. It can evolve, play, surprise us and still remain beautifully rooted.
Every piece is thoughtfully designed and crafted in Lagos, with an appreciation for the hands, fabrics, details and stories that bring it to life.

The Founder
An Afrocentric community, built through fashion.
TribeKanna began with Sandra Onyekachukwu’s lifelong love for fashion and a desire to create something that felt deeply personal.
After working with several fashion houses in Nigeria, Sandra’s understanding of fashion evolved beyond the clothes themselves. She became drawn to the stories they could tell, the cultures they could celebrate, and the communities they could bring together.
In 2020, she officially established TribeKanna with a simple but intentional vision: to create fashion that feels distinctly African, yet effortlessly at home in the modern world.
Her design philosophy is rooted in Afrocentrism, modernity, timelessness, and craftsmanship, creating pieces that allow women to express themselves with confidence while staying connected to culture.
For Sandra, TribeKanna is more than a label. It is an expression of her belief that African fashion can be both rooted and contemporary, understated and expressive, familiar and new.
And at the heart of it all is community: women discovering their style, embracing their individuality, and finding a little bit of themselves in TribeKanna.

Behind every TribeKanna piece is a process shaped by patience, precision, and intention.
From the first cut to the finishing touches, each garment passes through thoughtful hands and a considered process. We work in small runs and create made-to-measure pieces, allowing us to give every garment the time, care, and attention it deserves.
Our Lagos studio is where ideas become garments, where traditional techniques meet contemporary design, and craftsmanship is never rushed.
